Rahul Sees Big Economic Crisis Ahead, Modi Stepping Down as PM
“The system that once functioned under Modi’s control is now shaking and collapsing internally,” Gandhi said.
New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may not remain in office a year from now, citing what he described as weakening control over political and institutional systems.
Addressing tribal leaders at a programme organised by the Adivasi Congress at Indira Bhawan in New Delhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said the country was heading towards a major economic crisis.
“Prices are rising and this is only the beginning. India will witness an economic crisis unlike anything people have seen before. This process has already begun and cannot be stopped,” Gandhi said.
He alleged that an “institutional revolt” was under way, claiming that individuals in key institutions were increasingly sharing information with the opposition.
“The system that once functioned under Modi’s control is now shaking and collapsing internally,” Gandhi said.
Gandhi further said that rising economic pressures could intensify public discontent and place additional strain on institutions. He also suggested that concerns over electoral processes and governance could add to the situation.
He claimed that the government might resort to extraordinary measures to contain public dissatisfaction but maintained that it was losing control over institutions and public opinion.
