New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to participate in the selection process for the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The appointment of the CBI Director is carried out by the Union government based on the recommendation of a three-member committee. The committee is chaired by the Prime Minister and includes the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India.
The committee convenes to deliberate and finalise the appointment of the new CBI chief, a position considered critical for ensuring the independence and integrity of India’s top investigative agency.
