Puri Jagannath Temple To Set Up Dedicated Breastfeeding Room For Mothers
A suitable location near the temple’s branch office has already been identified for the facility, which will offer a safe, private, and comfortable space for mothers to feed their infants while visiting the shrine: Reports
BHUBANESWAR: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Odisha’s Puri has decided to establish a dedicated breastfeeding room within the temple premises to create a mother and child-friendly environment for devotees.
A suitable location near the temple’s branch office has already been identified for the facility, which will offer a safe, private, and comfortable space for mothers to feed their infants while visiting the shrine.
To ensure smooth functioning, a woman staff member will be appointed exclusively to manage the breastfeeding room, assisting mothers in accessing the facility and providing necessary support.
SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee has directed officials to make immediate arrangements to operationalise the facility. The decision comes in response to long-standing demands from devotees and social activists who had been urging temple authorities to create such a space for lactating mothers.
The facility is expected to benefit thousands of women devotees, particularly those traveling long distances with infants to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
