President Murmu Offers Prayers at Maa Biraja Temple
On the occasion, District Collector Amber Kumar Kar presented the President with a Buddhist statue and a handloom saree as mementoes. Members of the Brahma Kumaris organisation also met her during the visit.
Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu, currently on a six-day visit to Odisha, on Tuesday visited Jajpur and offered prayers at the revered Maa Biraja Temple on the second day of her tour.
The President paid obeisance at the shrine of Maa Biraja, the presiding deity of the district, and spent over one-and-a-half hours at the temple complex. She also performed Pinda Daan at Nabhi Gaya, a sacred site located near the Biraja Temple, a ritual that lasted around 45 minutes.
After completing the ceremony, the President visited shrines of other deities within the temple complex.
The visit generated considerable enthusiasm across the district, with residents lining both sides of the road to welcome the President. Cultural and spiritual programmes were organised along her route. Officials said this was the first visit by a sitting President to Jajpur.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister for Cooperation, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Pradeep Bala Samanta, Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera, and local MLAs, along with senior police and civil administration officials, were present to receive the President.
