President Murmu Continues Cherished Custom, Sends Rakhi To Younger Brother In Odisha
According to family sources, Tudu began his day with his usual routines before carefully tying the Rakhi sent by his elder sister.
Bhubaneswar:President Droupadi Murmu marked Raksha Bandhan this year by honouring a family tradition close to her heart — sending a Rakhi from Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi to her younger brother, Tarani Sen Tudu, in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to family sources, Tudu began his day with his usual routines before carefully tying the Rakhi sent by his elder sister. Soon after, the siblings spoke over the phone. Tudu sought his sister’s blessings, while the President inquired about his well-being and asked when he planned to visit Delhi.
“I told her I would come soon. We updated each other on our lives. The bond between a brother and sister is very special. I prayed for her good health, and she blessed me,” Tudu shared in a conversation with local reporters in Mayurbhanj.
Over the years, President Murmu has never failed to either tie it herself or ensure it reached him in time, regardless of her commitments or location.
“On the morning of Raksha Bandhan, I first spoke to my sister over the phone. She had sent the rakhi in advance, and I wore it symbolically before preserving it as a keepsake. It always feels special,” he added.
