Uddhav to Launch Maharashtra Outreach Amid Rebellion Buzz
Thackeray will start the campaign with a visit to Yavatmal on June 27, followed by Washim in Vidarbha and Hingoli in the Marathwada region
Mumbai: Amid speculation of a rebellion within the party, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray is set to begin a Maharashtra-wide outreach campaign to meet party workers, including in the constituencies represented by rebel MPs.
According to the schedule shared by UBT Sena MP Sanjay Raut, Thackeray will start the campaign with a visit to Yavatmal on June 27, followed by Washim in Vidarbha and Hingoli in the Marathwada region.
On June 28, he will visit Parbhani and Dharashiv, while a visit to Shirdi is scheduled for June 29.
The outreach comes amid reports that several Sena (UBT) MPs who skipped the party’s parliamentary meeting may join the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde. These include Yavatmal-Washim MP Sanjay Deshmukh, Hingoli MP Nagesh Patil Ashtikar, Parbhani MP Sanjay Jadhav, Shirdi MP Bhausaheb Wakchaure, Mumbai North East MP Sanjay Dina Patil, and Osmanabad MP Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar.
Meanwhile, Thackeray on Sunday visited the Sena (UBT) offices in Bhandup West and Ghatkopar in Mumbai, where he interacted with party workers.
Targeting Sanjay Dina Patil and other rebel MPs, Thackeray accused them of “selling” themselves.
“Despite facing betrayal and MPs being sold, the Shivsainiks are still standing firm. I want to apologise for asking you to vote for the traitor. I had campaigned in all Lok Sabha constituencies. I have given him a ticket. He increased his price by getting elected, and later he sold himself. This trend is dangerous,” Thackeray said.
Reiterating the party’s support for the Congress, he also took a swipe at the BJP.
“Does anyone know who the president of the BJP is? No. One day, someone from Congress will be their president. They said Congress Mukt Bharat, but it is BJP-yukt Congress,” he said.
While Sanjay Dina Patil is among the MPs reportedly considering a switch, his daughter, Rajool Patil, met Thackeray at Matoshree in Mumbai and reaffirmed her loyalty to Shiv Sena (UBT).
Rajool Patil, a core committee member of the Yuva Sena, said, “I had come to Uddhav ji to present my side, and I told him I am with Shiv Sena (UBT).”
