Rahul Gandhi Presser Questions 152 Paper Leaks in Last 10 Years
The Leader of Opposition said that so far, zero convictions have taken place.
New Delhi: LoP Rahul Gandhi, addressing the media on the NEET paper leak issue on Wednesday evening, said 7.5 Crore Students and their families have been affected by NEET paper leak, the total expenditure of families of NEET aspirants amount to 1.3 lakh crore Rupees, which is almost equal to India's education budget.
"The question is why is this happening to our students? What have they done wrong to be thrashed, pointed guns at by the police." he asked.
"They are simply asking simply, Listen, as students in this country we deserve an education system that is fair, and we don't have it. Children have committed suicided, and students go through unlimited stress, and they are told at the last minute that the paper has been leaked.
The thing that is clear to everybody, is that our education system which was known to be one of the best education systems in the world is now rigged." He said.
152 Paper Leaks, Zero Convictions
Rahul Gandhi revealed that a total of 152 paper leaks have been done over the last decade, if you do the math, it will be one in a month. And so far, Zero convictions have taken place.
"7.5 Crore Students and their families have been affected by this. They put their hard earned money into their children' s education. They have been literally spat on," he said.
"It's not just that the system is rigged. The system is unaffordable. Every student knows this. But somehow the government of India doesn't know about it. This is why the students are on the streets."
Annual NEET expenses of families of NEET aspirants amount to 1.32 lakh crore Rupees, while India’s education is 1.4 lakh crore Rupees.
At the same time, every year, the amount spent by Indian families is almost equal to the country’s education budget.
One exam costs the families who take the exam, as our entire education budget.
He said that the Government of India, after collecting all the taxes, spends money on the education of our children. This much money is spent by the families of the NEET exams.
“Please understand the scale of this thing. And after you (the Government) steal from the families, you say there is a paper leak and the thing is rigged. This is the second reason and legitimate reason why our youngsters are outside.”
"The fundamental reason is even after learning and graduating, becoming lawyers, doctors, the students are suddenly told that the doors to get a job, a livelihood are closed", LoP Rahul Gandhi said.
