New Delhi: The Opposition parties, led by the Congress Party held a joint press conference on Tuesday evening, following a meeting at the residence of Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, in display of their unity against the Narendra Modi-led ND government and the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge termed INDIA bloc protests against "vote chori", CEC as "massive success". The India Bloc, in united fashion, will carry forward this united fight against the Modi government, he added.

People are angry and are demanding CEC's resignation; govt cannot suppress protests, said CPI general secretary D Raja, and said that the opposition struggle against the current regime will reclaim the now denotified protest site Jantar Mantar, and all other democratic spaces and democratic rights, he added.

NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule said that India’s Constitution is in danger, and the joint opposition’s united fight against the vote chori will continue.

CPI-M general Secretary MA Baby said that “We will take our protest forward; govt first committed "vote chori" and now "chori" of protest site”, reacting to the Delhi Police move denotifying Jantar Mantar as the designated protest site in Delhi.

(CEC) Gyanesh Kumar is a "mafia" who has criminalised the entire system; we know how to fight such a mafia: Shiv Sena-UBT leader Sanjay Raut.

TMC leader Sagarika Ghose said that the Gyanesh Kumar-headed EC is destroying free and fair polls in India; and the united opposition will not stop till he is removed as CEC. She added that the newly elected BJP-led West Bengal government is illegitimate. The Suvendu Adhikari government is in power through 'vote chori,' she said.

“PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, CEC Gyanesh Kumar need to understand that the net is closing around them. It's our commitment to the people that those who have destroyed the Constitution will be brought to justice. We are standing here together as one; there are no parallel protests, there's only one protest. Together we all are going to fight till the end to restore democratic process in the country. No matter which institution plays a role, political resistance will continue; people's resistance will continue and will triumph. We have extreme respect for SC, CJI, judicial system; they have role to play, we hope they will play that role,” said Rahul Gandhi.
