New Delhi: Filing of nominations for elections of 27 seats in Rajya Sabha began on Monday. While three seats, each belonging to Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Odisha will witness bye-elections, 24 seats covering ten states will see biennial elections. These ten states are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Mizoram.

The last date for filing of nominations is June 8 till 3 PM. The scrutiny of nominations will be taken up by the Returning Officers (ROs) on June 9 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is June 11. In case of contested elections, the polling will be held on June 18 from 8 AM to 4 PM, followed by the counting of votes at 5 PM.
