Margao: Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha and Senior Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and pay the price for 'vote chori'.

Gandhi joined the Congress's 'Goy Rakhon Yatra' in Margao, walking two kilometres with workers and leaders.

"The entire country knows that CEC Gyanesh Kumar implements 'vote chori' and Amit Shah and PM Modi back him," he said while addressing a public meeting here.

He said the Congress is a protector of the Constitution, adding that Modi, Shah and Gyanesh Kumar know they can't escape from us.

"PM Modi, Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and pay the price for what they have done," he added.

Gandhi said India used to have a world-class education system earlier, but now pellet guns are being used against student protesters.

Gandhi, who arrived at Dabolim airport in the afternoon to take part in the mass outreach programme, will later address a public gathering at Margao Cricket Club (MCC) ground.

He was joined in the yatra by AICC Goa desk in-charge Manikrao Thakare, co-in-charge Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Goa Pradesh Congress committee president Girish Chodankar, among others.

The 27-day-long 'Goy Rakhon Yatra', led by Alemao and Chodankar, began on September 22 and culminated on Sunday.

It covered all 40 Assembly constituencies in the coastal state with the aim of strengthening the Congress' grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 assembly polls.

The party said the 'Goy Rakhon Yatra' (campaign to protect Goa) is a movement to safeguard the state's land, environment, cultural heritage and identity.

During the campaign, the party raised concerns over land conversion, alleged land grabbing, unemployment, corruption, public safety and the preservation of Goa's distinctive social and cultural identity.

It also sought to engage with local communities and bring development-related concerns to the forefront of the political debate.

The campaign comes ahead of the 2027 Goa assembly elections, with the Opposition party seeking to strengthen its grassroots presence and mobilise support across constituencies, including those represented by the ruling BJP.
