Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday appealed to the BJP workers to prepare right away for the Lok Sabha polls which are at the doorsteps.

Addressing the gathering of Shakti Kendra booth-level committees of the BJP workers at the Marine Drive in Kochi, Mr Modi asked the workers to take the resolve "We will win our booth, we will not get defeated in our booth. To win the elections and to win Kerala, you have to first win your booth.”

At the meeting, the prime minister spoke more like the head of the party's election machinery, urging the workers to build a direct connection with each voter in their booth, focusing particularly on the beneficiaries of central government schemes present in each booth. “You should know them by their name and go to their families. Keep a list of all beneficiaries in your area and this should be the top priority of each worker,"

Modi asked the workers to remain in constant touch with the voters in their area. “Those who have been left out of beneficiary schemes should be enrolled immediately according to their needs and priorities. Bring them near Modi’s Bharat Sankalp Yatra vehicle,” he said and added that each booth worker should take responsibility for 10 to 15 families in his area, give tasks and get trained on what needs to be communicated to the voters. Enrol first-time voters in a big way, ensuring no one is left out.

The prime minister asked the BJP workers to enrol more people with the My Bharat Movement and use the Namo App extensively to get information which will help in creating awareness among workers. He called for extensive use of social media and digital platforms to spread positivity.

Sree Ram Temple

The prime minister told the workers that currently he was observing anusthan and had the opportunity to take part in cleaning activities in temples as part of the pran pratishta taking place at the Sree Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. “It is a moment of bhakti and faith for crores of people in the country. I appeal to the BJP workers in Kerala to spread out in their villages, towns and wards to conduct swachch abhiyan (cleanliness drive) in temples in their respective areas.

Modi called upon the workers to ensure that Sri Ram Jyoti is lit in every house in their area on January 22. It's not difficult in a place like Kerala which observes Ramanaya Masam, he said.

To priority for welfare of poor

The prime minister said BJP’s top party was the welfare of the poor. “We gave free ration to the poor which has now been extended by five years, free treatment, pucca houses, free gas connection, making the life of poor people easy.

Raising the limit of IT, subsidised medicines through Jan Oushadi stores, cheap mobile data have helped people save crores of rupees.

Attacks Congress

Modi said a recent report has stated that 25 crore people in India had come out of poverty during the last nine years. This indicates that the path we have taken for a developed nation is right.

When the Congress government was in power, they only spoke about “garibi hatao” but never eradicated poverty. In Kerala the LDF and UDF had a history of corruption and scams hence they need to be exposed.
