Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has so far addressed seven public meetings and held two roadshows in Odisha in his previous three trips, is scheduled to visit the state again on Wednesday.

According to the Odisha state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), PM Modi will address three poll rallies in Kendrapara, Balasore and Mayurbhanj parliamentary constituencies to boost the morale of the party workers.

On May 6, the PM addressed two public meetings at Berhampur and Nabarangpur. Four days later on June 10, he held an impressive roadshow in state capital Bhubaneswar. The next day, on May 11, he undertook a marathon campaign programme by addressing three poll rallies at Phulbani, Bolangir and Bargarh.

On May 20, the PM addressed two poll rallies at Cuttack and Angul.

On his very first public rally at Berhampur, the PM has taken a huge risk by announcing that the BJP will come to power in Odisha by ending the 24 years of rule by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik. He has even announced that a BJP government will take oath of office on June 10.

The BJD, on the other hand, has claimed that it would get a majority in the 147-member Odisha Legislative Assembly and form the government for the sixth consecutive term on June 9. The political slugfest between the BJD and BJP leaders has made the Odisha poll battle more interesting this time.

BJP national vice president Baijayant Jay Panda is contesting from Kendrapara while former Union minister Pratap Sarangi has been fielded from Balasore.

BJP’s Odisha unit vice-president Golak Mohapatra informed that Modi will first address a public meeting at Chhau Padia in Baripada followed by Balasore and Kendrapara.

“PM Modi will first address a public meeting at Chhau Padia in Baripada at around 12 pm on May 29. He will hold the second meeting in Balasore at around 1.30 pm and the third one in Kendrapara at around 3.30 pm.

Similarly, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi are scheduled to visit Odisha on May 29 and 30 respectively.

“Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will address a public meeting in Balasore at around 11.30 am on May 29. He will join a public rally in Bhadrak at around 3 pm. Rahul Gandhi will address a meeting in Simulia at around 11am on May 30,” said Congress in-charge for Odisha, Ajoy Kumar.
