Bengaluru: NIA Likely To Investigate Seizure Of Gelatin Sticks Near To PM's Event

Bengaluru : Investigation into the seizure of two gelatin sticks close to a compound wall on route used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy in Bengaluru on Sunday to reach Art of Living Foundation to attend a function there would be taken-over by National Investigation Agency (NIA), stated Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Over the discovery of a timer among other materials along with two gelatin sticks, an explosive used to in blasting boulders at quarries, near Vaderahalli under Kaggalipura police station limits of Bengaluru South district, Home Minister said “NIA sleuths have shown interest to take-up the investigation and State Government will extend cooperation in their investigation into the recovery of gelatin sticks, timer and among other materials seized.”

“Usually, highest level of security will be provided to programmes attended by Prime Minister and the security will be provided by Union as well as State Governments,” he said and in reply to a query on any links with terror organisations, he said, “Only after investigation it will be known/revealed (to the public).” Parameshwar commended police personnel for early detection of two gelatin sticks before the arrival of the Prime Minister to the venue.

Initially, police said, two gelatin sticks were recovered from a cover dumped close to a compound wall near the Art of Living Foundation where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to address a gathering. Further searches detected a timer to blow the sticks, batteries, and a circuit board.

Before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, policemen along with the Anti-Sabotage Check Team put on security duty for the PM’s programme came across a cover containing two gelatin sticks and police seized the sticks. The Prime Minister programme at the Art of Living Foundation went smoothly.
