AP High Court Imposes Curbs on Movement of Pinnelli

VIJAYAWADA: The AP High Court has imposed certain curbs on movement of the petitioner and contestant from Macherla Assembly segment, Pinneli Ramakrishna Reddy. It however provided him interim protection from the arrest till June 6.

A single-judge bench headed by Justice Venkata Jyotirmai Pratapa issued the order on Thursday.

It directed the Chief Electoral Officer to order the police to have complete surveillance on the movement of the petitioner during the interregnum.

The petitioner shall not involve in any criminal activity or repeat the alleged offenses. He shall not create any law and order problem in the district. He shall take the responsibility of the actions of his followers and see that no untoward incident is attempted/committed causing hindrance to public tranquillity.

He shall not make any comment in print or electronic media about his role in the present case and shall not interact with any witness so as to induce, influence or threaten them.

He shall stay at the headquarters of the Parliamentary constituency in this period. If, however, the counting station is situated elsewhere, he shall visit the station on the day of counting.

The court said the prosecution was at liberty to take necessary steps in accordance with law in case of violation of any of these conditions.

The petitioner was booked as first accused in a poll-related violence case, wherein he allegedly broke an EVM at Palvai Gate polling station during the polling on May 13.
