D Jayakumar hits out at Kamal Haasan again
The minister has been in the forefront in attacking Kamal, ever since he launched his full-throttle verbal offensive against the government.
Chennai: The spat between AIADMK and Tamil film icon Kamal Haasan refuses to die down. On Sunday, finance minister D. Jayakumar, who has been under attack from the actor for his comments, asked Kamal not to “keep pretending” that he was going to enter politics.
“Politics is a bed of thorns. It should not be underestimated. Let him see the kind of difficulties in politics by entering it. He should not pretend that he is entering politics,” Jayakumar told reporters here, adding that Kamal should enter politics if he is serious about serving the people.
Jayakumar also sought to know what relief measures and welfare activities the actor undertook during the 2004 tsunami tragedy and the devastating floods of 2015. “Have you (Kamal Haasan) done any welfare for the people through your fan clubs during the tsunami or the floods. Instead of acting, Kamal Haasan was just uttering words and the people will realise it,” the minister said and suggested the star should make his political plunge by January, apparently in 2018.

While asking his fans to send “evidence of corruption” to ministers on July 19, Kamal had attacked the finance minister who sought “proof for Kamal Haasan’s allegation of corruption against the Tamil Nadu government.”
