NIZAMABAD: There was suspense that the Lok Sabha election from Nizamabad may not be held on April 11 in view of the very large number of candidates in the fray and the additional arrangements that need to be made to conduct the poll.

About 180 farmers have filed their nomination papers as a mark of protest against the low prices for turmeric and red jowar.

This has necessitated the printing of ballot papers and providing large boxes to hold them.

There was trepidation even in the TRS ranks that the election could be postponed due to this.

Returning officer and district collector M. Rammohan Rao has sought additional provisions to conduct the election from Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar.

In view of the large number of candidates in the fray, scrutiny of papers and allotment of symbols took more time.

In addition, deploying of polling agents has also turned a critical factor.
