Bengaluru: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader S.M. Krishna on Friday hit back at former Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar claiming he had presided over an assembly propped up by “electorally disqualified riff-raff”. In a strongly worded statement here, Mr Krishna took strong objection to Mr  Kumar describing the disqualified MLAs contesting the December 5 bypolls on BJP tickets as riff raff. “The man with conscience, Ramesh Kumar, must have felt ashamed when he was made Speaker by riff-raff, who shamelessly joined hands together to forge a most opportunistic and unnatural alliance,”  he said in reference to the coalition government formed by the Congress and Janata Dal (Secuar) following the 2018 elections although neither party had a majority.

Continuing his attack on Mr Kumar, Mr Krishna said, “This needless and no-holds-barred diatribe against these former MLAs proves that Mr Kumar is not only a sadist but also frustrated as his orders preventing the former MLAs from contesting the polls was not upheld by the Supreme Court. With defeat staring at Mr Ramesh Kumar's party, this man with conscience has resorted to cheap comments, which does not behove the position he  held,”
