Bengaluru: Leaders of the state Congress on Thursday demanded the government to convene a session of the legislature to discuss about damage caused by floods and steps to be taken to provide relief to flood victims.

The leaders held a day-long sit in near Maurya Circle before submitting a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Vala.

Ridiculing the Yediyurappa government , several leaders alleged that the CM was afraid of PM Narendra Modi, and party president Amit Shah, and therefore could not seek adequate funds to support relief operations in flood-hit areas. KPCC president Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao and CLP leader, Mr Siddaramaiah, said: “Mr Yediyurappa has no courage to go to Delhi and ask for relief. For inept handling of the situation, he should apologise.”

The KPCC president said the Congress did not indulge in politics over floods but the government failed  and therefore his party had to resort to a protest. When Mr Siddaramaiah quoted wrong information related to central aid, former revenue minister, R.V. Deshpande tried to help him with the data.

However, irked over Mr Deshpande interrupting his speech, he remarked:  “I know you were former revenue minister. You can speak about these details later.”
