KAKINADA: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has called upon the Setti Balija community to strive hard for achieving power through united efforts. He interacted with Setti Balijas in Bhimavaram on Thursday in the course of his present tour to drum up support for his party.

Pawan Kalyan said he would render support to Setti Balijas by providing them with the Gowda status. “It is an impossible task to implement liquor prohibition. Due to the liquor prohibition, the black-marketing of liquor is strengthened,” he said.

"While the YSRC is trying to split BCs, the Jana Sena wants to unite them," he claimed and said community halls would be constructed in every district for Setti Balijas and their affiliated castes.

“Jana Sena would make efforts to grow palm trees and toddy trees in the government’s vacant lands. The BC reservation quota shall be increased in local bodies and BCs will be provided shares of government liquor shops to toddy cooperative societies,” Pawan Kalyan said.

The Jana Sena chief said the YSRC government had set up several caste-based BC corporations, but these have been converted into shelters for politically unemployed leaders in the YSRC. “The YSRC government failed in protecting the BCs. A 15- year-old boy was burnt alive in Bapatla district recently. Jana Sena appointed Gowda caste leader Sankar Gowd as in charge of Jana Sena Telangana state,” he said.

Jana Sena political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar said that due to a reduction of the BC reservations to 24 per cent by the ruling YSRC, nearly 14,000 BC people have lost political posts in local bodies.
