Vijayawada: YSRC leaders have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission about “bogus and double entry voters and sought removal of those voters” in the electoral rolls.

Ministers Merugu Nagarjuna, Jogi Ramesh, MLA Malladi Vishnu and MLC Lella Appi Reddy alleged that Telugu Desam registered lakhs of bogus and double votes. They met chief electoral officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena submitted a memorandum about instances of duplicate votes across Telangana and AP states.

They also raised concern regarding potential Voter De-registration and Re-enrolment between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Jogi Ramesh said the party has identified these  and explained them to the CEO.

He said some Telugu Desam leaders who cannot compete in the elections are spreading false and fake news that lakhs of votes have been deleted. The next day they will spread word that lakhs of votes have been added and the pro-TD media spread fake news.

He said neither the  government nor the YSRC has any plan to use  employees as pawns for additions or deletions of votes.

Minister Meruga Nagarjuna said that there are more than 16 lakh double votes in AP and Telangana. According to Section 17 of the Representation of People's Act, 1950, a person has the right to vote only in one constituency.

Minister Nagarjuna said the slogan of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRC is that all should have one vote in each poll.
