Anantapur: Faction-dominated Tadipathri politics is turning bitter due to a fight between MLA Kethineni Pedda Reddy of the YSRC and municipal chairman JC Prabhakar Reddy of the TD.

Prabhakar Reddy has been facing strong resistance from the YSRC leaders, in particular from MLA Pedda Reddy, even during the meetings in the municipal office.

The Tadipathri MLA lost his temper on Wednesday and threatened that he would tackle his rivals after the general elections. “ I have been showing utmost patience to keep the troublesome areas peaceful for more than three decades, but how can I remain quiet when I am being targeted everyday,'' he asked.

MLA Pedda Reddy said, “Under the present circumstances, faction politics is inevitable. I will show my power to my rivals two months after the general polls.

“Whether the YSRC, TD or Jana Sena wins the polls, I would target my rivals as they are like pests on a crop,” he said.

Pedda Reddy got angry after pamphlets were released against him and his family members, which said they amassed huge properties and assets after his election as MLA.

A pamphlet was widely circulated by his rivals citing the statement of Pedda Reddy’s assets in the 2019 election affidavit and the present assets of the MLA and his family members. His rivals accused him of land grab in several areas.

Pedda Reddy made it clear that his properties, mostly lands, were not illegally acquired, but the TD was trying to “defame him with wrong claims.”

Meanwhile, a tense situation prevailed in Tadipathri on Wednesday when municipal chairman JC Prabhakar Reddy sat on a protest, blaming the police for not permitting them to protect the interests of the public. Police detained him and shifted him to the police station.

Pedda Reddy advised the people not to believe the Tadipathri police’s claims as they were bent on acting as per instructions from the YSRC leadership.
