Hyderabad: Buoyed by the overwhelming response particularly from women in Marriguda and Chendur mandals for her door-to-door campaign, Congress candidate for Munugode by election, Palwai Sravanthi on Tuesday began her campaign in Choutuppal mandal. After starting from Jaikesaram village, Sravanthi covered scores of other villages before taking part in Bathukamma celebrations at Sarvail village in Narayanpur.

Overwhelmed by the response, she described it as ‘a wonderful sense of belonging’ that may help her win the election. “People are showing a lot of affection wherever I am going. I was surprised to find that not only young women, but also elderly are rushing to welcome me with ‘harathi’. It seems like all the women in the village are walking with me,” she told Deccan Chronicle.

Bolstered by the legacy of her father, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, Sravanthi has faith in the traditional voters who recognise her. Sravanthi who started her campaign about 10 days back has also slowly started using catchy phrases while targeting her opponent from the BJP Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. Sunday’s visit by TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy also boosted her morale. “Hands of those who bring flowers (BJP) should be snapped and tyres of cars (TRS) should be flattened. It is high time we teach them a lesson,” she said.
