BENGALURU: Close on the heels of KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao facing severe attack from veteran leaders, his wife Tabu Rao posted a stinging piece on her Face Book time that “sycophants and hangers-on” are the biggest problem of Congress.

She said in her post titled, “What ails the Congress?”, one of the biggest problems of Congress is sycophants and hangers-on who fill the ears of leaders with what they want to hear rather than what they should hear. “Thus, many leaders are cut off from ground reality, especially those who do nothing except this in the capital (Delhi?),” she remarked.

Her post went viral on Friday even though she posted it on her time line on Thursday with every local media house highlighting it. Mrs Rao’s post commences with a caveat - At the outset, let me clarify that I am writing this post strictly in my personal capacity. It reflects “my own views” as a “close observer of the party, and nobody else,” taking a dig at leaders in New Delhi and party veterans at one go.

Mrs Rao charged that there is a growing dissonance among young leaders as the old guard is not ceding them any space.

“While the party can benefit from the experience of seniors, there is an urgent need to ‘bring young and dynamic leaders’ to the forefront. The young leadership should not be just redundant they should be allowed an opinion,” the state’s youngest KPCC chief’s spouse contended.

She conceded that there is rampant infighting in the party and it is no secret that many within the party work towards the defeat of their own party members.

Bemoaning the fact that  grassroots level workers are confused and demotivated, she advocates that the workers need to be enthused.

“Public Relations (PR) is perhaps one of our biggest drawbacks. We have failed to tell our lofty stories to voters, especially how Congress changed India into a superpower. Professional PR is the need of the hour,” she added.
