HYDERABAD: As part of the nationwide Sankalp Satyagraha in protest against party leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha, Congress leaders held protest programmes across the state on Monday.

Senior leaders, including PCC working president M. Anjan Kumar Yadav and senior vice-president Mallu Ravi took part in the protest at the Gandhi statue in Secunderabad.

“BJP government’s decision to disqualify Rahul Gandhi is against natural justice and it’s more like settling scores. He has emerged as a hero. As he is the only charismatic leader who can challenge the undemocratic administration of the Modi government, he is being harassed,” said Ravi.

Waliullah said that the disqualification from the Lok Sabha was unfair. “Rahul Gandhi never defamed anyone. But the BJP leaders are running a factory of lies from which they generate fake news,” he added.

TPCC general secretary Kiran Reddy called for strengthening the Congress in Hyderabad.

Similar protests were held at Hanamkonda, led by DCC president Naini Rajender Reddy, in Rajanna-Sircilla by DCC president A. Srinivas and in Mahbubabad by Bellaiah Naik, which was attended by CPI national secretary K. Narayana.
