KT Rama Rao to ensure planned growth

HYDERABAD: Municipal administration K.T. Rama Rao on Monday said that keeping in view the rapid urbanization of the state, the government will ensure the planned development of new towns and corporations.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, he said that 43 per cent of the population was living in urban areas. Since people gave an absolute mandate to the party in the civic polls, the TRS  would fulfil the election promises to the urban people. “We will soon implement an urban progress, the Pattana Pragathi programme, in every municipality. We will give training to the new mayors, deputy mayors, chairpersons and vice chairpersons on administrat-
ion,” he said.

Mr Rama Rao said that the municipalities are getting Rs 1,037 crore as grant from the Centre every year and the state government has decided to provide a matching amount.

He explained that for the planned development, the government had decided to set up youth, women, senior citizens and residents’ welfare associations in each ward and division of the municipalities and corporations.

“We will give permits within 21 days for construction of houses under the self-certification process and introduce self-certification property tax system. We will give bring QR Code for all houses. Trade licenses will be issued through self-certification for business and commercial complexes” said Mr Rao.
