Kochi: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran on Monday said that it was unethical on the part of the CPM  to take the stand that Power Minister M.M. Mani need  not resign in the light of an adverse court order against him.  He told reporters here that the  party which removed Mr E.P. Jayarajan from the Pinarayi ministry for favouritism was not willing to remove Mr Mani who was involved in a murder case. “This is a challenge to the people of the state and the CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury should make his stand clear,” he said.

The stand of  CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that Mr Mani need not resign showed that those who were involved  in murder politics have a place in the CPM, he said.  “There is a death threat for the special prosecutor in the Mani case. The police officer who probed the  case is now serving as Vigilance officer in the KSEB. Then how can we expect him to depose honestly in the case,” Mr Sudheeran asked.

The High Court verdict in the DLF case will have far- reaching consequences, he said.   The state government should go in appeal against the verdict since the DLF building had come up violating all environmental laws, he added. The KPCC president said the party block committees will undertake a people’s trial of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, the deadline he had set to end the  demonetisation travails.
