Thiruvananthapuram: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury to skip Wayanad during his forthcoming visit to Kerala to campaign for the LDF.

The campaign schedule of Yechury released by the CPM on Monday does not figure Wayanad. With Congress president Rahul Gandhi expected to contest from Wayanad, the absence of Yechury has raised eyebrows.

However,  Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat and S Ramachandran Pillai will be addressing public meetings in Wayanad.  Yechury’s tour begins from Thiruvanantha-puram on March 31. He will be covering 17 constituencies including Thiruvanantha puram, Attingal, Pathana mthitta, Kollam, Ernaku lam, Thri-ssur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod. CPM politburo member Prakash Karat will begin his tour on April 10 and cover 15 constituencies.

He will conclude his tour on April 18.

Yechury and Karat will be addressing 28 rallies each during their hectic campagin programme which also indicates the high stakes that the party has in Kerala.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be addressing most number of rallies from the CPM.

He is scheduled to address 52 rallies covering almost all constituencies across the state from April 1 to 15 with just two days break in between April 3 and April 10.

The remaining seven days upto polling date will be utilised for family meetings and local get togethers.

Veteran leader V.S. Achuthanandan has limited campaign schedule owing to age related health issues. Notwiths-tanding personal limitations, he will be the star campaigner in nine constituencies addressing a dozen meetings.
