VIJAYAWADA: Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowri on Friday expressed anger at Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation (MMC) commissioner for not according permission to construct a community hall.

The YSRC MP’s outburst came while presiding over a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee to review various works being implemented within the MMC area.

Participating in the meeting, Krishna district collector Ranjit Basha said two acres of land has been allotted for construction of a community hall in the name of Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramaiah, renowned freedom fighter and founder of the Andhra Bank. Further, Union Bank, into which Andhra Bank has merged, has come forward to construct the community hall.

However, for the past six months, the corporation has not yet given permission for construction of the hall. However, the commissioner and municipal officials pointed out that it is the municipal council that has to approve the proposal for the construction to start.

Following this, the Machilipatnam MP got angry and asked the collector to take action against the commissioner
