Vijayawada: AP Planning Board vice-chairman and Central MLA Malladi Vishnu has said he and his team are working tirelessly to make the Central constituency the top in the state in terms of development.

On Saturday, Vishnu inaugurated the new sanitary office built at a cost of Rs 11.36 lakh and did Bhumi Puja for road construction works of Rs 1.37 crore in the 59th Division Ajit Singh Nagar.

Present at the  event were MLC MD Ruhulla, city mayor Bhagyalakshmi, deputy Mayor Srishailaja and local corporator Shahina Sultana.

Malladi Vishnu revealed that after the YSR Congress took power, development works worth Rs 5.98 crore were taken up in the division. Bhumi Puja was performed for the construction of the BT road from Ganganamma temple to the railway track with funds of '88.95 lakh and for the construction of the road from Rythu Bazar to RUB for Rs 48.80 lakh.

He said the newly constructed sanitary office will be very useful for the sanitation staff.

As part of Nadu-Nedu, the MLA stated that the construction work of 20 additional classrooms had been undertaken with a fund of Rs 3 crore in the local MK Baig Government School. A women's junior college was set up in this area and 10 classrooms have also been sanctioned.

MLC Ruhulla said nearly Rs 20 crore has been spent through DBT and Non-DBT in each ward secretariat during the term of the Jagan-led government. A total of '100 crore worth of welfare development programmes have been undertaken in the 59th division. He thanked MLA Vishnu for his work to develop the central constituency.
