Raipur: Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) has been recast by the AICC leadership ahead of the year-end assembly elections in the state.

AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday reconstituted the CPCC by appointing 23 general secretaries, 140 secretaries and seven executive body members.

Besides the seven members, the state executive body of the party will have the PCC president, chief minister, former PCC presidents, former Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders, vice-presidents and general secretaries would be the ex-officio members of the body, a press release issued by AICC said.

The reconstitution of the CPCC was expected ever since the AICC last month appointed party MP Deepak Baij as the new PCC president in place of Mohan Markam, a Congress MLA.

The new office bearers of the PCC represent all sections of society and regions in the state, a Congress leader said.

Assembly elections in the state are due in November this year.
