Kalaburagi: Senior Congress leader and Aland MLA BR Patil has called for a comprehensive inquiry into a letter that recently went viral on social media, purportedly signed by 11 MLAs.

The letter alleges that ministers in the state have been demanding money in exchange for sanctioning funds for constituency-related work. The letter bears the letterhead of BR Patil, adding to the seriousness of the matter.

Taking the letter's content seriously, BR Patil took the matter to the Superintendent of Police Isha Pant on Tuesday evening, urging a thorough investigation.

According to Patil, some unscrupulous individuals might have manipulated his old letterhead to create an illusion of discord between him and the district in-charge minister, all for their political gain.

In a complaint to the SP, Patil stated that his signature was forged in the letter.

He sought a thorough investigation into the matter.

Patil clarified that the letterhead used in the alleged letter bears his previous address in Shanthi Nagar, while he has been residing at Akkamahadevi Colony for the past four years.

"The letterhead bears my previous address in Shanthi Nagar, whereas I have been residing in Akkamahadevi Colony for the past four years. My current letterhead, however, reflects my new address. It has been alleged that the letter was delivered to the Chief Minister on July 24. However, on that very day, I was in Kalaburagi, having arrived from Bengaluru," he explained.

Emphasizing the seriousness of the situation, Patil urged for a comprehensive investigation to identify those responsible for creating the fake letter and spreading it through the media. He demanded that strict legal action be taken against the culprits.
