Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday asked Chief Minister K. Chandra-sekhar Rao to review his decision supporting BJP candidate Ram Nath Kovind in the Presidential elections.

Speaking after distributing ’Ramzan ration kits' among poor Muslims, he said the country would be in danger if a person with “communal mindset” gained control of Rashtrapati Bhavan. He claimed Mr Kovind had a history of speaking against Muslims, Christians and other minorities. The election of Mr Kovind would aggravate the communal atmosphere. Those nuturing hatred on minor issues would get emboldened to carry out attacks on minorities, he claimed.

Mr Reddy asked Mr Rao to understand the implications of his support to Mr Kovind’s candidature. He said that the TRS, which calls itself a pro-minority party, should refrain from supporting Mr Konvind who “practices RSS ideology of hatred and divisive politics.”

He ridiculed Mr Rao’s claim that the TRS was supporting Mr Kovind in lieu of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s help on securing 12 per cent quota for Muslims in TS.
