HYDERABAD: Union minister of state for home G. Kishan Reddy on Monday wrote a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao appealing for allocation of land to National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as the Centre was keen to have such an office in Hyderabad.

Reddy said that nod was given for NCDC in 2019 along with budget allocation but the state government has not yet provided land. He said that the government has not responded to earlier communications seeking three acres of land.

The minister pointed out that had the NCDC been set up in Hyderabad it would have been more useful in the fight against the corona and other diseases. He recalled that he had personally discussed with his cabinet colleague to establish the vital unit in Hyderabad. He said that he would take the responsibility of setting up the NCDC as soon as the state government allocates land.
