Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday announced that notification for elections to municipalities and municipal corporations will be issued in two to three days and the entire process will be completed by November.

Speaking to reporters at the Telangana Bhavan, the CM disclosed that by Friday they are expecting clarity from High Court on pending cases against elections to urban local bodies. An action plan to make towns and cities clean like Gram Panchayats will be launched after the elections, he declared.

Referring to the proposed New Revenue Act, Mr Rao clarified that no decision has been taken on abolishing the Village Revenue Officer system. However, in case the system is scrapped, VROs will be accommodated in other departments.

Responding to questions, he said he will start visiting districts after municipal polls to hold Praja Durbars and resolve problems of tribals with regard to podu lands. He will also go to Gulf countries and ask migrant workers there to return to their native state.

On Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan holding department-wise revi-ews, the Chief Minister maintained that nothing much must be read into the issue since the Governor is new to the state. She has been interacting with officers to understand the various schemes of the government and their functioning, he remarked.
