WARANGAL: BJP workers in Warangal on Thursday climbed atop a cell tower at the press club, demanding permission for Bandi Sanjay’s Praja Sangam Yatra, after notices were issued by the Wardhannapet police to halt the state BJP chief’s programme.

The situation was brought under control after BJP spokesperson A. Rakesh Reddy, former minister Vijayarama Rao and leader Chandupatla Keerthi Reddy intervened, and connected the protesters with Bandi Sanjay through a phone call.

Rakesh Reddy said that Sanjay assured the protesters to continue his programme in Warangal and convinced them to climb down by asking them to accompany him till his yatra was completed.

One of the protesters, identified as Chittari Rakesh, fainted due to the high radiation and was admitted to a hospital in the vicinity.
