Governor P. Sathashivam addresses the Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Opposition UDF has alleged that the Governor's address lacked focus. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala, IUML Leader P.K. Kunhalikutty and Kerala Congress (M)  chairman K.M. Mani in a joint press conference on Friday said that there was nothing in the Governor’s address except a few barbs against the previous UDF government.

“There is nothing much in the address than what has been announced by the previous UDF government. The LDF which was making much noise on the wrong-doings of the previous government has indirectly accepted that the policies they followed were good by continuing with the Karunya scheme, start-ups,Kannur airport and Vizhinjam project initiated by the UDF government. The main content of the address was the repetition of the policies of the previous UDF government. What is there in the propaganda that the LDF would make everything right? In fact, they could not go beyond what the UDF has already announced,”  they said.

The leaders also termed the propaganda that the exchequer was empty as false. There was a treasury balance of Rs 1643 crore when the UDF demitted office. If the treasury became empty,  it was the LDF that has to be blamed, they said.
