HYDERABAD: Alleging that the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indulging in ‘vendetta politics’, former MPs including V. Hanumantha Rao and Ponnam Prabhakar strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as Lok Sabha member. They ridiculed BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s demand for apology for ‘insulting’ OBCs.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Rao lamented that no action was taken against MPs like Pragna Thakur who eulogised Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, but Rahul Gandhi who questioned the leverage given to scamsters were disqualified. He ridiculed the demands that Rahul Gandhi apologise to OBCs.

“An apology is being sought from Rahul Gandhi, citing insulting Modi amounts to insulting OBCs. What kind of benefit have OBCs received after Modi became PM? It was the Congress which fought for OBC reservation. Modi has failed to address problems faced by the BCs,” Rao said.

Over the demands by BJP state president Bandi Sanjay that Rahul Gandhi should apologise the OBCs, the Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar felt that it was BJP which had actually undermined the OBCs during its rule.

M. Anjan Kumar Yadav and Suresh Kumar Shetakar were also present.
