Vijayawada: A people’s representative and his associates attacked a video journalist for taking their video on the premises of the Police Commissioner’s office. Due to this, Journalist Associations are planning for an agitation. The victim journalist lodged a complaint with the police but no action has been taken yet.

Vijayawada West MLA Jaleel Khan, his associates and Additional Commissioner of Police Nawab Jaan attacked a Press cameraman B. Nani, on the premises of the office of the Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada.

Earlier, Jaleel Khan’s brother’s son had passed away. The wife of the deceased Mehabooba had complained that without doing any justice to her, the family of Jaleel Khan took her baby away. She had approached the police on Wednesday to register a complaint.

The police decided to have a talk with both the groups and called them to the Commissioner’s office. The groups were summoned by DCP B. Raja Kumari.

While Jaleel Khan came to talk to the police officials on the issue, the victim cameraman recorded the video. The MLA shouted and allegedly used abusive words against the journalist and forced his associate to catch the video journalist, to delete the video content.

In front of ADCP Nawab Jaan, Inspector Uma Maheswara Rao, Jaleel Khan, and his associates tried to grab the camera forcibly. But, the journalist resisted it.

The MLA caught hold of the cameraman forcibly and ordered Nawab Jaan to take the camera from the journalist.

Immediately, Nawab Jaan took the cameraman into a chamber, followed by associates of Jaleel Khan. Including Nawab Jaan, all of them threatened the cameraman and forcibly deleted the video in the camera.
