Telangana's Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), Mr. K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Hyderabad: BRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday said his party plans to introduce an interest subvention scheme on home loans for middle income families as part of the BRS government’s aim of ‘housing for all’ vision which the party will implement in its third term of governance after the November 30 elections.

The plan is to have this initiative run parallel to the existing housing programmes of the state government, he said.

Speaking at the Real Estate Summit 2023 on Friday at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), he said the focus of the BRS government in future will be on infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive growth.

Unveiling a 'Future Ready Hyderabad’ vision, Rama Rao said the focus will be to turn Hyderabad as a carbon-neutral city by 2024 with focus on renewable energy, green transportation, green buildings, waste management and circular economy.

Also part of this plan is to use artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT) and other technologies in policing for making Hyderabad a safe city, as well as efforts to provide consistent access to clean water to domestic, industry, and businesses.

Rama Rao, who said the Metro Rail network will be expanded to 415 km in the next 10 years and the city will also have a rapid rail transit system, later in the day took a ride on the Metro Rail from the Mindspace junction to Begumpet in what turned into a pleasant surprise for the passengers.

During the 20-minute ride, Rama Rao interacted with several of the passengers with many vying with each other to take selfies with the minister. Rama Rao chatted with the young and the old during his ride. During the conversations, he stressed on the need for youth and first time voters to vote on November 30 without fail saying they should set aside at least an hour to do so.

Later, addressing autorickshaw drivers unions and representatives from different districts, Rama Rao called on them and people not to pay attention to the Congress campaign calling for a change.

“Change has already happened in Telangana. Just compare how Telangana was before 2014 and now, and you can see the change. Because people wanted change in 2014 from 55 years of Congress rule, the BRS was chosen by the people,” he said.

Rama Rao said “Don’t believe what is on social media. Believe what you can see. You know Hyderabad has changed so have many other towns. Lakes that were once empty are full, there is power supply. Living standards have changed for the better.”

“Look at what the land value was in 2014 and what it is now, even someone who holds 50 square yards has more wealth today than in the past. What Congress could not do we have done, which can be seen. There is tremendous change, so what is this change that Congress is talking about?” he said.

Taking aim at state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao described the opposition party leader as a “third class fellow, a vote-for-note thief who is pushing a manifesto that has no value, and calls it the Bhagavad Gita and the Quran. On the other hand, KCR’s greatness is that he implemented several programmes and schemes that were not in BRS manifestos.”
