CM Bommai at Jana Sankalpa Yatra in Jagalur, Davangere

Davanagere: In a pointed attack against the Congress, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that people in the state were disappointed with Siddaramaiah's five-year governance and have decided not to bring the Congress party back to power in the state.

He was addressing the party workers at the Jana Sankalpa Yatra in Jagalur on Wednesday.

“The Congress government had neglected Jagalur. The coalition government which came to power later did the same. Providing water to the people of Jagalur remained in the speeches of the Congress leaders and water did not reach the people. The Congress leaders only gave false assurances. During the Congress rule corruption had reached all departments,” he alleged.

The Chief Minister said that the present BJP government in the state was taking all measures to fulfill the expectations of the people.

"Since Davangere is an important district, our government wishes for the development of this district along with Chitradurga district. We have informed the railway minister about releasing sufficient funds for the Davangere Rail project. The work will start from January next year,” he said.

He added that an industrial township will also come up on 1,000 acres in the district.

Bommai said that Rs 3,000 crore has been allocated for the Upper Bhadra project.   

“This will make central Karnataka greener. The upper Bhadra project was conceptualized by the BJP government and the BJP government will complete it. When I was irrigation minister, I had taken measures to provide water to Jagalur. Former CM BS Yediyurappa had allocated Rs 660 crore for 57 lakes in the region. Our government has allocated Rs 1,400 crore to provide drip irrigation to 45,000  acres under the Upper Bhadra project,” he added.
