Thiruvananthapuram: The allegations about a secret understanding between the Congress and BJP for the coming Assembly elections are false, according to   Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers H.N. Ananth Kumar. Mr Kumar told reporters at Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust here on Saturday that certain quarters had been raising similar allegations  during every election. Such understanding  has never happened, Mr Kumar said.

He also dismissed the allegations that Suresh Gopi was made a Rajya Sabha MP and Sreesanth a candidate for the elections without the knowledge of the state leadership.

The people of the state were aware of the corruption during the time of UDF and also the politics of violence propagated by the LDF, Mr Kumar said. “The LDF  failed to highlight the corruption of the UDF government as they were on the defensive on the Lavalin case. The CPM leaders are also silent about their alliance with Congress inWB,” he added.
