HYDERABAD: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday said that there was no need to give the Congress any more chances to rule in the state after it ruled the state for 11 terms but did nothing for the people of Telangana.

Taking part in a series of roadshows for the BRS, Rama Rao said not only will the Congress lose in the November 30 elections in the state, but its state president A Revanth Reddy is all set to lose from Kodangal, and Kamareddy where he is contesting from.

Rama Rao, who addressed road shows in Devarakonda, Huzurnagar, Makthal, and Uppal on Thursday, called on people to vote for the BRS government which will implement more welfare schemes for the people in its third term, including distribution of fine rice to all white ration card holders, cooking gas cylinders at Rs 400 to eligible families, increase Aasara pensions and financial assistance to young women under Soubhagyalakshmi scheme.

Addressing gatherings in Uppal and Malkajgiri constituencies where it was raining in the evening, Rama Rao said the government has made plans to expand Metro rail services to new areas, and will take up flood and drainage system upgrading in the next term.

In Malkajgiri, stumping for party candidate Marri Rajashekhar Reddy, who is facing former BRS leader and now Congress contestant Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, Rama Rao called on the people not to get intimidated by threats or ‘goondagiri’, assuring them that he will stand by them.

Telangana, he said, needed an able leader and stable government which Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has provided so far and will continue to do so.

He said that while the BRS government built 30 flyovers in the city, it made one mistake of handing over the construction of Uppal flyover to the Modi government which has not completed the work, putting people in difficulties. He also said the Kapra and RK Puram lakes will be developed and beautified.

Congress leaders, he said at other meetings of the day, were promising to bring ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ to Telangana, which means “nothing but hunger, poverty, lathi charges on farmers standing in queues for fertilisers and seeds, power cuts, besides Naxalism.”
