Mysuru: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan said on Friday that the ruling party would outperform the Congress and Janata Dal  (Secular) in forthcoming Assembly bypolls as these former coalition partners were locked in a tussle in addition to infighting in the Congress.

Dr Ashwath Narayan, in-charge of the byelection in KR Pet constituency, told the media after a courtesy call on former Speaker Krishna that his party would remain in power with a win in six of the 15 constituencies.

His party candidate and disqualified legislator A H Vishwanath, however, faced embarrassing moments when youth of Doddahejjuru in Hunsur taluk did not allow him to enter their village on Thursday evening.

In a video which has gone viral, the former minister is seen leaving the place after unsuccessfully trying to pacify the youth who protested against his apathy to problems faced by villagers after his election to the Assembly last year.
