Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Wednesday that  there was no obstacle in former transport minister  A.K. Saseendran returning to the cabinet.

Mr Vijayan told reporters at the cabinet briefing here that the P.S. Antony judicial commission, which probed the case, had not indicted him or found him culpable in any manner. Instead,  it  had found the media organisation and the individual behind it guilty of  wrongdoing.

“There is no obstacle before him to return to the cabinet. But I cannot take the decision alone. The centres concerned will have to decide on the matter,” he said while indirectly referring to Mr Saseendran’s party and the ratification of the LDF state committee.

To a question, Mr Vijayan said the decision on  Mr Saseendran’s return  would be taken shortly.    “I want to get rid of the additional burden,” he  said in a lighter vein while replying to a question on the additional charge that he has been holding.

Meanwhile, Mr Saseendran said he would wait till the NCP and LDF decided  on the issue. “With the commission clearing my name, only the party and the LDF are authorised to decide  on my return to the cabinet,” he said.
