AIADMK ministers behaving like slaves of BJP, says MK Stalin
He sought to know from Tamil Nadu ministers whether their smooth equation with the Centre had helped Tamil Nadu get the exemption from NEET.
Chennai: DMK Working President M.K. Stalin on Sunday tore into the AIADMK Government’s assertion that it was maintaining cordial relations with the BJP only for the state’s benefit. He sought to know from Tamil Nadu ministers whether their “smooth equation” with the Centre had helped Tamil Nadu get the exemption from NEET.
In a letter to his party cadre, the Opposition Leader also said people of Tamil Nadu are fed up with up the AIADMK Ministers “who are behaving like slaves” of the BJP-led union government. Later, speaking to reporters in his Kolathur constituency, the DMK leader demanded action against ministers who have been accused of trying to bribe voters in the now-cancelled by-elections to the RK Nagar assembly constituency.
On the dairy development minister K.T. Rajenthra Balaji’s remark that “nobody can shake” the AIADMK as long as the party enjoys the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Stalin said the statement looks like a “confession” which proves what was being talked about in the past few months.
Punching holes in chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s repeated assertions that his government was maintaining cordial relations with the Centre only for the state’s benefit, Stalin asked him to list the benefits that Tamil Nadu got in the past few months. “Did (the cordial relations) help Tamil Nadu get the exemption from NEET? Did that help in getting the Cauvery Management Board? Did it help in addressing farmers’ issues? Did it help in safeguarding traders and people from GST?” Stalin asked.
Stalin also asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu are waiting for an opportunity to throw out this government and elect the DMK. On the RK Nagar by-elections, Stalin demanded strict action against ministers who have been accused of trying to bribe voters in the by-elections.
“The basic question is what action has been taken against the ministers who have been accused of distributing money? Why have the people named in the I-T report not been booked yet? All those named should be booked and brought to justice,” he said.
The by-election to the RK Nagar assembly constituency was cancelled after widespread allegations of the use of money power with documents recovered from health minister C. Vijayabhaskar’s residence allegedly showing that '89 crore was to be distributed among voters.
