BRS list reflects social injustice, says D.K. Aruna

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Tuesday said the BRS’s candidate list, announced by party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao reflects social injustice and the ruling party’s attitude towards different sections of society. The party also reiterated its demand that the Chief Minister’s daughter K. Kavitha to demand from her father why he included only seven women candidates in the 115 BRS candidates list for the coming Assembly elections.

Party national vice-president D.K. Aruna said that in addition to leaving out some sections of society from his candidates list, Chandrashekar Rao also renominated several MLAs who have criminal charges against them.

Also, many are facing serious corruption charges and the Chief Minister is relying on such MLAs to try and win the elections again, she said. “Only 22 BCs got the party tickets though BCs constitute the largest group in the state, and among BCs, the Mudiraj community is the largest but there was no representation to this community,” Aruna said.

“The CM wants to contest from two constituencies, does he have the courage to contest against Etala Rajendar or Akbaruddin Owaisi. Because he is scared of losing in Gajwel, he chose to contest from Kamareddy too,” she said.

She also took aim at BRS MLC Kavitha saying the Chief Minister’s daughter who made a hue and cry about women’s reservation, has much to explain why she did not question her father about having only 7 women in the 115 BRS candidates whose names were announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, party general secretary and in-charge for Telangana state affairs, Tarun Chugh, said “KCR despite making lofty claims about dropping corrupt MLAs, shows how shameless the BRS has become. People of the state are baffled at this brazenness. Just a few days ago, while presiding over a meeting of BRS MLAs, he warned the MLAs that he had information that at least 20 MLAs are taking 30 per cent bribes in Dalit Bandhu scheme. By this rate, there should have been at least 20 new candidates in the BRS list but this did not happen. This means KCR has endorsed his MLAs’ corruption.”
