Chennai: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Tuesday alleged that the AIADMK (Amma) government had drifted from the policy of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on the release of seven convicts in former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case by filing an affidavit against the release in the Madras High Court.

In a statement here, he pointed out that the Jayalalithaa government passed a resolution in the Assembly demanding the release of the seven convicts.
Contrary to the resolution, the state government had filed an affidavit in the court opposing their release during the hearing of the petition filed by two of the convicts Robert Payas and Jayakumar.

The state's contention that they were opposed to the release since the central government had opposed it only showed that the state rulers had become agents of the central government, he said.

The shift of policy in National Food Security Scheme, Udhay and NEET was also seen in release of Rajiv Gandhi case convicts, he said.
