Mehul Choksi's lawyer not on Congress final list

Bengaluru: The Congress Sunday dropped its candidate for Madikeri, H.S. Chandramouli, who represented fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi as his lawyer, and allotted a second constituency-Badami- to CM Siddaramaiah, as it released the second and final list of candidates for the Assembly polls.

The party confirmed a ticket for Shantinagar MLA N.A. Harris, who was embroiled in a controversy after his son was involved in a brawl at a pub-cum-restaurant.

Earlier, the Congress had announced 218 candidates. The party is expected to support farmers' leader late Puttannaiah's son Darshan Puttannaiah (Swaraj India) in Melukote. In Malleshwaram, Minister M.R. Seetharam has been replaced by Kengal Shreepad Renu while in Padmanabhanagar, M. Srinivas would be fielded against R. Ashok of the BJP.
