Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress leaders in the state are upset with vice-president C.R. Mahesh’s resignation. Though he was a nominee of Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala, he showed more allegiance towards K.C. Venugopal MP now. They warned that the senior leaders did not give them space to express their voice and they have lost all hope in the KPCC leadership.

KPCC general secretary P. C. Vishnunath was one of the first leaders to lash out against Mahesh, 38.

Mahesh, a graduate in politics was upset when Mr Vishnunath alleged that he is leaning towards the RSS. On Wednesday, former chief minister Oommen Chandy and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala voiced their strong displeasure which prompted Mr Mahesh to step down from the post. It was then alleged that local Congress leaders there connived against Mr Mahesh for getting a seat to contest.

“Despite the AICC observer and secretary in charge of the state Dipak Babaria holding talks with the warring leaders in Karunagapally then for Mr Mahesh’s victory, he was still defeated. It is unfortunate that a leader like Mr Mahesh has to step down and we are losing all hope against this party,” a Youth Congress leader told this newspaper. Recently, Mr Mahesh had cosied towards KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran and had the support of several YC leaders. But they warned that when the BJP is making great strides in Kerala, a strong youth brigade is required at the grass root level to stall them. Vinod Krishna, KPCC executive committee member lashed out against Mr Mahesh in his Facebook post. “You (Mahesh) should not have shamed the party publicly. It would have been good if you had not resorted to insult publicly. Or else history will never pardon you,” he said.
