Bengaluru: Congress state president, Dinesh Gundurao and Janata Dal(S) supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda met on Thursday to discuss the contentious seat sharing for the Lok Sabha polls and agreed to meet again amid reports of serious differences over the Mandya and Hassan parliamentary constituencies.

Ms Sumalatha, widow of actor-politician Ambareesh, who represented Mandya twice in the Lok Sabha, has expressed her eagerness to enter the fray but is facing stiff opposition from the JD(S) whose MP, L Shivaramegowda currently represents the seat.

As for Hassan, sitting MP Deve Gowda would like his grandson Prajwal Revanna to contest but local Congress leaders have declared they will back only Gowda.

Mr Gundurao later indicated that the party's plan to field sitting Congress MPs again was its decision and not final.
